For all you cry babies out there, complaining about East Enders "open mic night", GROW UP and get a grip!
Performing, for the better of 10 years, as a pro musician, I have done my fair share of open mic's, all over this island and the city. Take it from me, this place is a great venue to play at.
Anyone that will complain about 5 bucks, to play original tunes, that no one has ever heard before, obviously doesn't have what it takes for the long haul as a pro musician. I have paid $10 to play open mic nights in a bar, where the bar is making a killing and drunk a-holes, who will NEVER remember you, or your music, are there to play for. Yaaaaaay.
At least at East Enders, or any coffee house that offers an open mic, there are people who attend, that really want to listen to original music. People that take your info and remember it for the time you play. It's an honest crowd that allows musicians to test their abilities and find out if they suck or not.
Wah wah wah $5 wah wah. Try spending double that and having a drunk idiot yelling out "Free Bird" for 1/2 the time you're performing. Grow a pair, and go get some real experience before bashing this place. The owners are really nice people, and don't have to have an open mic. You cry babies can stay home and play for the four walls in your bedroom, and leave the real musicians with a great venue to play.
Let me know when you call off that 5 dollar thing and I'll consider it. There are plenty of great places to go where you feel welcomed and appriciated. Coffee houses normally make money on the coffee they sell on open mic night. I find this odd.
As the owner of EastEnders Coffee House i'm sorry that there are people out there not happy with our place. The cover charge was initiated to help cover costs such as a raise in rent and electric bills not for the PA.
We have a wonderfully supportive group of musicians and hope a few dissatisfied folks don't keep you from checking us out. Besides where can you go to be entertained in a great envirnonment for just $5.00. Hope you'll come visti soon!

Its friday night - sign up is at 8 I believe. I wouldn't go if I were you though.
They charge you 5 dollars to play for 15 minutes. First off its unheard of to be charging a cover for musicians when you are playing an open mic. It is for "THE PA" supposedly.
I would gladly bring a PA, they aren't that expensive. If you ask me, RIP OFF.
Hi, I am a local artist looking for venues to play. I was wondering what night your open mic was held? Also if you like my stuff I would love to have the opportunity to do a show. You can listen to some of my stuff at www.myspace.com/gonzalezrey. Also, you can contact me here reygonz3@optonline.net. Thanks.
